I’m a wife and a mother of two and Our Brand Ambassador, with a degree in human services and another in journalism. I was also born with cerebral palsy. Using my experiences, I worked for seven years in disability employment services and now I work from home.
I focused on overcoming the restrictions of my disability by working around them to keep fit, raise my children, run a household and be an active member of my community. I’ve channeled all of this in my blogging and on my website.
When I first got pregnant there were no support services for parents with disabilities. I faced a lot of judgement and very little understanding. I believe disAbility Maternity Care is the resource I had hoped for back then.
As Brand Ambassador for disAbility Maternity Care, and using my own experiences as a mother, I hope to change the discussion and help others see that people with disabilities are just as capable of being good parents as everyone else. I’m so excited to be helping change misconceptions on parenting and disability.
DisAbilityMaternityCare has been established to provide women with disability and service providers information to assist in supporting them to become mothers. It is established on the premise that all women have the right to establish relationships, have consensual sex, and become mothers should they so choose.
