Dr Namira Williams – CEO & Educator
Namira brings to this organisation both her personal and professional experience.
As a midwife and nurse for over 30 years, she has worked in a range of midwifery models of care. Her career has been based on social justice, working to improve the healthcare of mothers and babies in disadvantaged groups. These include young women and Indigenous women. She has established projects with a focus on community development in women’s health for women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and Indigenous women in Australia.
The birth of two babies within her family to young women with learning disabilities has provided both lived experience of disability, as well as personal experience in the transition to motherhood for these women.
“Through my personal experience and doing this research, I became aware of the need for establishing a website – and the reasons for disAbility Maternity Care organisation.”

Amanda Liddell – Lead Educator
Having spent the most part of my life caring for others, as a mother, a police officer and also a midwife, the natural progression for me was to support families who are living with a disability, as this is where my true calling lies. The favourite part of my work, and indeed my life, has always been supporting women (and their partners) no matter the situation. The reason I have joined DMC is because here I can encompass all my interests, skills and passions and make a difference to others in a more impactful way than ever before.
